Fr. Finch is the son and oldest child of Stanley and Linda Finch. An Austin-area native, he grew up in San Marcos where his family were active members of First Baptist Church. A close family of deep faith, Fr. Finch’s parents took spiritual formation seriously. Daily Bible study around the breakfast table was a part of the family’s daily routine.
He attended The Master’s School of San Marcos for elementary and middle school, and then attended San Marcos Public High School. Upon graduation, he matriculated at Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. During his time in Aggieland, Fr. Finch was involved at St. Mary’s Catholic Center, and it was there that he discerned God calling him to consider a vocation to the priesthood. Fr. Finch first thought God might be calling him to be a priest when he first thought about converting. As a matter of fact, one of the things that attracted him to the Church was the thought of being a priest. Fr. Finch explains that the way God brought him to the Church was through a subtle desire to serve the People of God sacramentally. His initial discernment progressed rapidly during his time at Texas A&M. Even before he was received into the Church, he began seeking guidance in discernment in spiritual direction and in meeting with the Director of Vocations. He prayed frequently for the grace to know and love his vocation.
After graduating from Texas A&M, Fr. Finch began seminary formation at Holy Trinity Seminary at the University of Dallas. Fr. Finch studied theology at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, where he earned a Master of Divinity, a Master of Arts in Moral Theology, and a Sacred Theological Bachelor in affiliation with the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Since he was ordained a priest in June 2019, Fr. Finch has served as parochial vicar at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Cedar Park. In his free time, Fr. Finch enjoys reading, playing the organ and piano, hiking, fishing, and flying!
